Have you been struggling with your weight? Tried every weight loss diet under the sun? Hate exercise?

Living with overweight and obesity is challenging

Not only do you face weight discrimination, but you are also constantly told by the media and well-meaning health gurus how easy it is to lose weight. If it were that easy, well, there wouldn’t be a global obesity problem would there?

What people don’t realise is that obesity is a chronic disease. The development of obesity is genetically based and when genetics are coupled with an obesogenic environment (easy access to energy-rich and nutrient-poor food, and sedentary lifestyles driven by the way we live i.e., drive cars, sit at desks and watch TV all night), it’s the perfect storm.

Let me be the first person to ever tell you, that having overweight and obesity is not your fault, you are not lazy and unmotivated. It is directly a result of the way our societies are currently operate. Our 9am to 5pm jobs and the responsibilities we have to our families, make it extremely challenging to devote our lives to cooking every night, exercising for hours every day, and of course, meditating to the sunrise!

Most commercial and fad diet weight loss programs prescribe the same regime for everyone. This is fundamentally wrong. You are not “everyone” you are a unique person with a unique set of life circumstances and family responsibilities, so you need a tailored custom plan to make it work.

Your weight loss attempts in the past probably haven’t worked because you haven’t taken a holistic and multipronged approach. What I mean is, that you haven’t addressed nutrition, exercise, and mindset all at once and in a step-by-step manner relevant to your phase in life and mindset at the time.

I have worked with clients all over Greater Western Sydney and Sydney for the past 12 years of my career with great success. I am a qualified dietitian/nutritionist and exercise psychologist, with additional qualifications in public health and a PhD. I have undergone additional training in motivational interviewing and behaviour change strategies. In my day job, I work with other clinicians endocrinologists, physiotherapists, and psychologists, as well as academic researchers in obesity and chronic management. I have conducted my research that focused on the treatment and management of severe obesity and chronic disease management. Needless to say, I have a lot of tools in my tool belt to help you achieve your health and weight loss goals.
